the classic third culture kid childhoods
Military families, foreign service postings, mission work, international business - most third culture kids grew up the way they did because of a parent's job. Different reasons, same result: a childhood of moves, new schools, and goodbyes, and an adult life where "where are you from?" needs a footnote.
Often, yes - military brats who grew up on bases abroad, or moved between very different places, share many TCK experiences: frequent moves, repeated goodbyes, and a complicated answer to "where are you from?"
They're two of the original groups the term was coined to describe - children who grew up in a host culture because of a parent's posting or mission work.
There's no field for a parent's job, but you can filter by the countries people grew up in, their parents' countries, and the languages they speak - which is usually what you're really looking for.
